About the Presenters:

Amita Goel is the Founder and CEO of Celltheon Corporation. She was previously a Research Scientist of Biologics PD and Manufacturing for Gilead and a Manager and Scientist at Elan Pharmaceuticals. She has also held Senior Research Associate positions at Purdue Pharma and Beckman Coulter. She has a BS in Microbiology from Texas Tech University and MS in Microbiology from San Jose State University.

 

Celltheon Corporation is a CRO providing high quality biotherapeutic proteins. The company’s services include:

– Generation of stable cell lines, expressing antibody and recombinant proteins.

– Optimization and increase of expression by 6-10 fold using Celltheon’s proprietary process in 6-8 weeks.

– Scale up to 10-100L in WAVE and perfusion bioreactors to generate gram quantities of protein for various animal studies.

– Purification and delivery of low endotoxin protein.

– Experience with Hybridomas, HEK293, CHO, NSO and other cell lines.

 

Stefan Ryser, PhD is the President and CEO for Trellis Bioscience LLC. He has held senior positions in both the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, was a managing partner of Bear Stearns Health Innoventures and has served on numerous boards of directors.

 

Dr. Stefan Ryser held various senior management positions of increasing responsibility at F. Hoffmann-La Roche, including Chief of Staff for the President of Global Research and Development. Dr. Ryser was from 1989 to 1997 at Roche in Nutley, NJ as well as in Basel, Switzerland. While at Roche he led initiatives to assess the impact of emerging technologies on pharmaceutical research and development, and assisted in the establishment and management of strategic research and development alliances.  He was a member of the joint steering committee with Millennium Pharmaceuticals and a liaison for new research projects with Genentech.   Stefan Ryser founded and served as managing partner of Bear Stearns Health Innoventures, a $212 million private equity fund established in 2000. He also founded and managed, beginning in 1998, International Biomedicine Management Partners, a biotechnology venture fund. Previously, Dr. Ryser has served on numerous boards of directors in both public and private biotechnology companies.  Before joining Trellis Bioscience, Dr. Ryser was CEO at A-Cube, a biotech company focusing on identifying B-cell epitopes.  Prior to A-Cube he was SVP for corporate strategy at Telik, a company founded by Larry Kauvar, and VP of Business Development at Aridis Pharmaceuticals.  Dr. Ryser earned his undergraduate degree in molecular biology and biochemistry and Ph.D. in Immunology at the University of Basel, Switzerland.

 

Trellis Bioscience LLC located in South San Francisco, CA, discovers and develops novel human antibody therapeutics as treatment for infectious disease and oncology indications. The company leverages its proprietary platform technology, CellSpot™, to find rare human antibodies with superior selectivity, affinity and other characteristics. The company has built a pipeline of monoclonal antibodies focused on infectious disease, with the most advanced being an IND candidate for treatment of Respiratory Syncytial Virus, licensed to Medimmune.

 

Claes Glassell joined CMC Biologics as its chief executive officer in May 2011. He brings to the table more than 30 years of industry experience, including 20 years of executive leadership experience in publicly listed life science companies responsible for bioprocessing, active ingredients manufacture, registered therapeutic agents, and various support services. Most recently, he was president and CEO of Cerus Corporation. Prior to Cerus, he was president and COO of Cambrex Corporation and held senior positions with Akzo Nobel, Nobel Industries, and Berol Kemi. Claes has a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, and he attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He has been a member of CMC Biologics’ board of directors since 2005.

Cancellations must be received in writing by January 13, 2014 for refund.  After the cancellation date if you have reserved a space but do not attend, your payment MUST be remitted, however, an alternate person may attend in your place.  If the alternate is not a member, they will need to pay the difference in fees.

From the South (San Jose)

Take Highway 101 north to the South Airport Boulevard exit (which is two miles north of the San Francisco International Airport). At the first stop light, drive straight across the intersection and directly into the parking lot. The South San Francisco Conference Center is on the left. The Oyster Point Room is on the back right hand side of the Conference Center.  It is a newly-built room that has not been used by ISPE previously.

 

From the North (San Francisco)

Take Highway 101 South to the South Airport Boulevard exit in South San Francisco. Stay to the right and turn east under the freeway overpass. Make a right, at the Hungry Hunter Restaurant, onto South Airport Boulevard. The South San Francisco Conference Center is located on the left.  The Oyster Point Room is on the back right hand side of the Conference Center.  It is a newly-built room that has not been used by ISPE previously.

 

From Marin County, 19th Avenue, Daly City

Take the Golden Gate Bridge to 19th Avenue and continue on to Highway 280 South. From Highway 280, take Highway 380 East to Highway 101 North (San Francisco). From Highway 101 North exit at South Airport Boulevard. At the first stop light, drive straight across the intersection into the parking lot. The South San Francisco Conference Center is located on the left. Note: There is a South Airport Boulevard exit off Highway 380. Do not take this exit. Please take the South Airport Boulevard exit off of Highway 101 North.  The Oyster Point Room is on the back right hand side of the Conference Center.  It is a newly-built room that has not been used by ISPE previously.

Parking

Free parking at the South San Francisco Conference Center, however, it is limited.  Carpooling is encouraged.
